Wieffer is a defensive midfielder by trade and he is being considered as an upgrade on Wataru Endo at the Merseyside giants next season. Meanwhile, Geertruida is a central defender who can also operate from right-back. He could be a replacement for Joe Gomez or Joel Matip . Matip is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30. Gomez could also depart amid his inconsistent displays. Liverpool are set for a new beginning under Slot and it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman can win over the fans with his management.
