Fortuna Sittard have confirmed the signing of Alex Carbonell on loan from Valencia.

The 21-year-old came through the Barcelona academy and made his debut for the club in the Copa Del Rey. However, he then joined Reus Deportiu and Córdoba before being signed by Valencia this summer.

Valencia don’t think Carbonell is ready for their first-team and have sent the midfielder on loan to Fortuna Sittard for the season.

The Spaniard told the Fortuna website, “I can’t wait to join the group. I would like to prove myself and be of value to Fortuna Sittard.”

Carbonell is Fortuna’s fifth summer signing after Patrik Raitanen, Adnan Ugur, Rasmus Karjalainen and Felix Passlack.

Tapia to leave Feyenoord for Moscow?

According to Sport Express in Russia, Feyenoord midfielder Renato Tapia is set to join Lokomotiv Moscow.

The 23-year-old was rented to Willem II in January and it appears he has no future in Rotterdam.

Sport Express in Russia, who were one of the first to report that Tonny Vilhena would join Krasnodar, are reporting that Lokomotiv Moscow are close to signing Tapia for around €3 million.

The Peruvian midfielder joined Feyenoord from Twente three-years-ago for €1.5 million. He made 45 appearances in Rotterdam, scoring once.

PSG rule out signing De Ligt

PSG sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club will not be signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax this summer.

PSG were favourites to sign the 19-year-old for a while before Juventus overtook them in the race. The Italian side have agreed a five-year deal with the defender, but are still haggling over a fee with Ajax.

The struggle for Juventus to seal the deal may have opened up a window for other clubs. However, Leonardo has shut down any chance of De Ligt joining PSG.

He told Le Parisien, “De Ligt will not come to PSG.

“There was a possibility. He is a great player but it was not a good time to make a big investment.

“We must calm down a little. We don’t have an envelope of €200 million to spend.”
