Young Dutch defender Ian Maatsen was proud after making his unofficial debut for Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old came on for the second half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Bohemians on Wednesday.

After the game, Maatsen told Voetbal International, “I am seventeen years old.

“What I am experiencing and learning now is priceless. The only thing I can do is train hard and believe in myself. Then everything should be fine. This debut feels like a start.”

Maatsen also stated Frank Lampard was pleased with his performance, “The manager was satisfied. He thought that I had done a fantastic job and that he saw the way in which I train every day in the game. That naturally gave me a very good feeling.”

Neres to sign new Ajax deal

According to reports in Brazil, David Neres is set to extend his contract with Ajax.

Ajax have managed to convince Andre Onana, Nicolas Tagliafico and Dusan Tadic to sign new deals with the club this summer and it appears Neres is next.

Brazilian outlet Yahoo Esportes are reporting that the 22-year-old will put pen-to-paper on an improved contract which will keep him in Amsterdam for at least another season.

Yahoo adds that Atletico Madrid recently had a €40 million bid rejected by Ajax, while PSG have also showed some interest.

Stam expects Berghuis to stay at Feyenoord despite PSV interest

Feyenoord boss Jaap Stam believes Steven Berghuis will still be at the club next season.

PSV Eindhoven are interested in Berghuis as they seek a potential replacement for Steven Bergwijn and Hirving Lozano.

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, Jaap Stam confirmed that PSV are showing interest in the attacker, but he expects him to stay in Rotterdam.

He said, “I also assume that he will just stay with Feyenoord, that we will work together for a while. Much interest in him? Yes, from PSV. But I think he will stay here.”

During Feyenoord’s 2-1 win over Darmstadt 98 on Wednesday, Berghuis was played as a number ten and Stam is interested in keeping the winger in midfield, “He is creative and I want that in midfield. He can pass a man, score and put people in front of the goal. That can make the difference. I want to see how this develops.”
