FC Twente have signed José Matos on a season-long loan from Spanish side Cadiz.

The 24-year-old becomes the fifth summer signing for Twente as they prepare for their return to the Eredivisie.

Speaking to the Twente website, Matos said, “This transfer is a very nice new step for me, playing in the Eredivisie. Last season I regularly followed FC Twente, because I still know Aitor and González from Sevilla. The coach and the players I spoke to recently gave me the right feeling. I am really looking forward to being on the pitch. “

Matos came through the Sevilla academy but only made one appearance for the club’s first-team before joining Cadiz last year. He has since made 23 appearances for the club.

Maatsen proud after Chelsea debut

Young Dutch defender Ian Maatsen was proud after making his unofficial debut for Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old came on for the second half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Bohemians on Wednesday.

After the game, Maatsen told Voetbal International, “I am seventeen years old.

“What I am experiencing and learning now is priceless. The only thing I can do is train hard and believe in myself. Then everything should be fine. This debut feels like a start.”

Maatsen also stated Frank Lampard was pleased with his performance, “The manager was satisfied. He thought that I had done a fantastic job and that he saw the way in which I train every day in the game. That naturally gave me a very good feeling.”
