Chelsea planning fresh move for Ajax star?
Chelsea are reportedly planning to revive their interest in signing Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez ahead of the New Year.
The Mexican was a top target for the west Londoners before the summer transfer deadline, but Ajax had no time to land a replacement.
Alvarez initially refused to train in an attempt to force through an exit, but he was later given assurances that Chelsea will return for him.
In recent weeks, the Blues have been linked with several other midfielders, but Algemeen Dagblad claim that Alvarez remains on their radar.
The Blues need to plan for the future with the prospect of N'Golo Kante and Jorginho leaving for free when their contracts expire next summer.
Hence, they will require more than one midfield signing. They did sign Denis Zakaria on loan this summer, but he has yet to make an appearance.
There are already suggestions that the Blues want to terminate his temporary deal from Juventus when the transfer window reopens in January.
