On Wednesday there was a meeting scheduled between Feyenoord’s leaders and Slot and the club were hoping to convince the head coach to remain.
However, RTV Rijnmond is reporting that Slot has rejected the offer to remain and has told the club that he wants to depart for Tottenham Hotspur.
Negotiations will now continue between Feyenoord and Tottenham as there is a €5 million difference at the moment between the offer and the price that the Rotterdam club is willing to accept.
Feyenoord is expected to demand a high fee as Slot does not have a release clause in his contract.
Slot has been Feyenoord coach since the summer of 2021 and he guided the club to the Europa Conference League final last season before losing to Roma. This year, he has guided the club to the Eredivisie title and also the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where Roma once again came out on top.
Once Slot departs, Feyenoord will turn their attention to finding a successor with Maurice Steijn (Sparta Rotterdam), Jon Dahl Tomasson (Blackburn Rovers) and Kasper Hjulmand (national coach Denmark) just some of the names being rumoured at the moment.
