Barcelona have second bid for Dani Olmo rejected
Spain's Euro 2024 winning midfielder Dani Olmo may well stay with RB Leipzig for the 2024-25 campaign after his club, RB Leipzig, rejected a second bid for the player. The Bundesliga club had previously turned down a 45 million euro offer from Barca,
26-year-old midfielder
Dani Olmo has caught the eye since departing Dinamo Zagreb for Leipzig in 2020, and he is considered the German club's best talent. With three years remaining on his deal at the East German side, it is understood the team are in no rush to sell their star player. That being said, Olmo is desperate to return to Barcelona, the club with whom he began his youth career between the years of 2007 and 2014. Croatian club Dinamo signed the midfielder aged just 16 on the 31st July 2014. Ten years later, the player looks increasingly likely to return to his former side. Barcelona will reportedly up their offer to 60 million euros in the coming days.
Olmo has 39 caps for Spain with an impressive 11 goals, and his route to Croatia and Germany appears to have been a smart move, with the versatile midfielder having played over 200 top flight games despite having just celebrated his 26th birthday.
Real Madrid have already wrapped up their transfer business for the summer, and Olmo is said to be unwilling to move anywhere else but Barca, and thus a transfer to the Nou Camp looks increasingly likely.
Olmo scored 8 goals in 25 games for Red Bull Leipzig last season, a decent return, but he had been playing in a withdrawn role in stark comparison to the position that he played for Spain during the recent summer tournament.
Barcelona are also understood to have been in contact with Burnley regarding a move for South African striker Lyle Foster, who no longer wants to stay with the Premier League side after recent relegation to the Championship. Barca see Foster as a potential forward backup option. Will the Catalan giants sign both Foster and Olmo? Verify the possible odds of a transfer happening for either with a soccer bet in South Africa .
Barcelona hope to wrap up their transfer business by August 14th 2024.
