Arne Slot speaks on Real Madrid speculation over Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said that Trent Alexander-Arnold won't be hampered by the ongoing speculation linking him with Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract with the Merseyside giants and he is free to discuss terms with foreign clubs in January.
Madrid have identified him as a priority for 2025 and reports claim that they could negotiate terms over a free transfer as soon as the transfer window reopens.
When pressed on the transfer links, Slot said: "I think you underestimate our players. These players are used to being linked with all the top clubs on a daily basis, if they have contracts or not.
"If you think they're disturbed by these interests, then I think you don't do justice to how strong they are mentally and what they are used to. This is part of our job."
Alexander-Arnold has been one of the Reds' top performers in the current campaign. He has registered a couple of assists in all competitions.
The Reds' hierarchy are clearly determined to keep him, but he has shown no desire to extend his stay amid the concrete interest from Madrid.
Liverpool will be in Premier League action against Chelsea tomorrow.
