With 42 caps to his name, Aguerd is one of his country's best players and was a member of the squad that progressed to the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In recent months, Aguerd has hinted that his future could lie elsewhere, and a move to Atletico Madrid and La Liga is said to be a dream of the defender.

West Ham signed Aguerd for a reported £30 million fee, so are unlikely to accept Atletico's initial offer, but it is understood if the Spanish side can match the club's £40 million valuation, Aguerd could be on his way sooner rather than later.

Aguerd has a deal until the 2026-27 season with West Ham .
