Arsenal confirm Bologna star as second summer signing
Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna on a long-term contract.
The Gunners entered talks to sign the Italian star at the beginning of the month, but they took time to finalise payment terms.
Calafiori was permitted to undergo his medical at the weekend and he has now put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract at the club.
He becomes their second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford on a permanent basis.
Raya was initially signed on loan from the west London side, and the Gunners recently triggered the option to buy him for £27 million.
Calafiori is currently training with the Gunners and he could make his non-competitive debut against Liverpool at the end of the month.
The Gunners are planning for more signings after Calafiori and they could sign another midfielder and a winger before the window closes.
Arsenal have two more friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon at the Emirates Stadium after their return from the United States.
