Liverpool and Chelsea enter race to sign Algerian international
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are to make an enquiry for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Fares Chaibi, the gifted 21-year-old Algerian international who has been with his current club since 2023 and is seen by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Mohamed
Chaibi, who began his career at French club Toulouse, arrived in Frankfurt in August 2023 for a fee of 17 million euros and went on to play a total of 35 times during his debut season for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring a total of three goals. Fast and an adept dribbler of the ball, the talented winger has similar characteristics to Salah, and Liverpool could sign the Lyon-born starlet this summer as a long-term successor to the Egyptian. Liverpool are expected to be busy in the transfer market over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Chelsea , who have already been active and signing several players, would like to bring Chaibi in now as they see the player as a hot prospect for the future. He would be unlikely to appear for either club on a regular basis in the first team this season, and thus could be loaned back to Eintracht for the season.
Chaibi is comfortable using either foot, but is primarily right-footed, but can operate as either a left or right winger. Usually, he is deployed as a central attacking midfielder, believed to be his preferred position.
With a contract until 2028, the bargaining chips rest firmly with Frankfurt, and it is understood that they may demand much more than the 38 million fee suggested.
