Mikel Arteta provides fresh injury update on Jurrien Timber
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh injury update on Jurrien Timber following the Emirates Cup win over Lyon.
Timber has been out for the past few friendlies with a minor foot problem and when pressed on the same, Arteta said that he is fine and should be ready to train with the group in the next week.
He said: "It's fine. He's been doing some individual work, that's clear now. So we expect him to be ready to train with the group in the next week, because he has no reaction. So quite positive."
Timber signed for the Gunners from Ajax last summer, but he made just two league appearances. He suffered a serious knee injury in the curtain-raiser and only returned for the final outing.
Hence, he is like a new signing for the club. Arsenal are likely to ease Timber back into regular first-team action such that there is no recurrence of the same injury in future.
