Brighton bid for Georginio Rutter
Brighton and Hove Albion have matched Georginio Rutter's minimum fee release clause, as the forward looks set to leave Leeds United in a transfer deal worth £40 million. The 22-year-old Frenchman leaves Elland Road after 18 months and 7 league
Rutter had played for Rennes between the years of 2017 to 2021, before making a move to TSG Hoffenheim. In two years at the Bundesliga side, Rutter scored 11 goals in 57 games. A transfer to the then Premier League side Leeds followed, and an uninspiring six months saw the club relegated to the Championship. After missing out on a promotion back to the top flight, Rutter has opted to leave the club.
Brighton have been busy this summer and with a new manager are looking to rebuild their squad. The departure of Pascal Gross to Borussia Dortmund has freed up some funds, and club owner Tony Bloom has fully bankrolled the side for new players.
Rutter will fly to Brighton this afternoon to undergo a medical, with a deal likely to be announced early next week.
