Enzo Maresca confirms new contract for Chelsea striker
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Nicolas Jackson will be penning a new long-term contract soon.
The Senegal international has had a good start to the Premier League season with two goals from three appearances.
His current deal does not expire until June 2031, but the Blues have decided to extend his stay with another pay rise.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace , Maresca confirmed the renewal for the former Villarreal striker.
He added that Jackson has been doing a fantastic job and the club are very happy with his performances at the moment.
He said: "The only thing I know is he's signing a new contract - I don't know how many years.
"I'm very happy. Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us. He scored again. He had more chances but we're happy with him."
The Blues were in the transfer market for a new striker and Napoli's Victor Osimhen was apparently their top target.
However, they were unable to secure an agreement with the Nigerian star, who clearly refused to accept a pay-cut.
Osimhen ended up staying with the Naples outfit, but he has been told to stay away from the first-team squad.
The 25-year-old is likely to pursue a new challenge in January. He has no plans of moving to the Saudi Pro League.
