Arsenal midfielder out for seven games with injury
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino will be sidelined for another seven games after picking up a shoulder injury in training last week.
The Spaniard joined the Gunners from Real Sociedad for £32m last month, but he will have to wait for a while to make his debut.
Merino suffered a fracture on his shoulder after a challenge from Gabriel Magalhaes and Daily Mail claim that he could be out until late October.
This will see him miss seven competitive fixtures including key Premier League games against Tottenham and Manchester City.
The 28-year-old will also be sidelined for the Champions League league phase games against Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal have adequate depth in the squad, but Merino's presence would have been a boost, considering his strong aerial prowess.
The Gunners are presently fourth in the standings with seven points following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Brighton at home.
They looked in pole position to secure a resounding win over the Seagulls until Declan Rice was sent off early in the second half.
