Mikel Arteta reacts to Bukayo Saka's performance vs Southampton
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka following the 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with another three points on Saturday. They dominated the opening half against the Saints, but could not break the deadlock.
The visitors took a surprise lead shortly after the interval, but Arsenal responded tremendously with Kai Havertz , Gabriel Martinelli and Saka finding the back of the net.
Saka was the man of the match with one goal and a couple of assists. Speaking after the 3-1 comeback win, Arteta was delighted with the performance of the captain.
He said: "That’s the maturity and the steps that players have to do. He’s been long enough in the team now, he’s earned the right to have that role, he believes in that.
"He has the capacity to change games, to decide games, like many other players. If you want to be at the top, sometimes players have to create those moments and he's certainly done that today."
With the win, Arsenal remain third in the league standings, but they are just one point adrift of leaders Liverpool , who face a tough game at Chelsea following the October international break.
