Man Utd can sign Spanish ace for just £17m
Manchester United have the opportunity to sign Benfica defender Alvaro Fernandez for a low buy-back clause, according to Record.
The Red Devils sold Fernandez to the Portuguese outfit last summer. The club triggered a buy-back clause worth £5m after a short-term loan stint.
Fernandez has since developed into a key player for the Primeira Liga giants and reports claim that he could be on the move by next summer.
Liverpool , Real Madrid and Barcelona are all interested in the left-back with a £42 million release clause in his contract with Benfica.
However, United could have the upper hand over the trio, having agreed a low buy-back clause worth £17m before his move to Lisbon.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are presently the left-back options for the Red Devils, but both of them have been prone with injuries.
The duo are expected to return after the next international break, but their unreliable fitness could urge the club to re-sign Fernandez.
