The Magpies levelled the scores through Alexander Isak , but the joy was shortlived as Palmer grabbed the winning goal for Chelsea .

Speaking after the game, Palmer credited the fans at Stamford Bridge who were helpful amid the barrage of attacks from the Magpies.

He said: "They were good today. Towards the end especially pushing us over the line. Shoutout to the fans."

With the victory, Chelsea have moved to fifth in the league standings with 17 points, one behind Aston Villa and London rivals Arsenal .
