Man Utd make Van Nistelrooy decision after Amorim arrival
Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy following his spell as interim manager of the club.
The Dutchman joined the Red Devils as an assistant manager last summer and he was handed the managerial duties last month after Erik ten Hag's exit.
Van Nistelrooy did not rule out staying at the club following his temporary stint, but United have now formally confirmed his departure.
A statement on the club's website read: "Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club.
"Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach."
Ruben Amorim has already arrived in Manchester and he will take charge of the team once his working visa is approved.
The Portuguese is regarded as one of the best coaches in European football and he comes to United with a huge reputation.
Amorim could make his managerial debut for United when they take on Ipswich Town in the top-flight on November 24.
