ALVARO MORATA could be set for a return to La Liga with Spanish champions Barcelona reportedly the latest team interested in the Chelsea flop.

Morata looks destined to leave Chelsea just one season after he arrived from Real Madrid in a deal worth £60million.

Morata has been linked with a move back to La Liga

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are looking to bolster their attacking line and provide cover for hitman Luis Suarez, who has 12 times in 17 league matches this season.

However, Morata’s surprising move back to La Liga hinges on attacking midfielder Denis Suarez going the other way.

Suarez has been subject to interest from Arsenal, though the Gunners are not willing to pay the £10m asking price for the 25-year-old.

Instead, Emirates boss Unai Emery will look to loan in Suarez, though that does not suit Barcelona or Morata, who could only make the shock Nou Camp move if funds were made through sales.

Barcelona can only look to bring ex-Real Madrid forward Morata in if there are departures as the La Liga leaders are up to their limit in wages.

Morata has also attracted the attention of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid who would look to take the striker out on loan.

Reports claim the 26-year-old has held talks with Atletico with a deal suiting the Spaniard as he still has friends and family in Madrid having spent five seasons in Spain’s top flight.

While Seville club's director of football Joaquin Caparros confirmed their interest in the the striker but claimed Chelsea are ‘difficult to negotiate with’.

Morata’s departure could only be sanctioned if Chelsea find a striking replacement, with a host of names being suggested.

Gonzalo Higuain, currently out on loan with AC Milan, is thought to be the Blues No1 target with the Argentine having scored a record 36 league goals with Napoli under current Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

The former Juventus striker Morata could find himself back in Serie A covering for Higuain's departure at Milan.

Higuain’s brother and agent was said to be in London meeting with Stamford Bridge chiefs but Bournemouth ace Callum Wilson is also a £50m target for the Blues.

Chelsea have also been handed back Michy Batshuayi, who saw his loan move with Valencia cut short having netted just three times in 23 games.
Despite Chelsea’s striking crisis, it is understood Sarri will lona Batshuayi back out again with Everton keen on the Belgian forward.

David Wagner does not fear the sack at Huddersfield

David Wagner does not fear for his job despite Huddersfield starting the new year rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

The Terriers will bid to snap a club record nine-game losing run in all competitions on Saturday in a vital game at relegation rivals Cardiff.

Another defeat would leave Wagner's side 11 points behind Neil Warnock's Bluebirds, who will start the game one place and two points above the drop zone.

When asked if he feared for his future, Wagner said: "It's not about fear, it's about that I'm not happy, which is how I should be after all these results.

"It's about how I feel responsibility. I like to put smiles on people's faces like we have done over the last three years and a couple of months.

"I'm not able to deliver this and this is nothing that satisfies me and this is what I meant when I said I know and I feel the responsibility for it."

Huddersfield owner Dean Hoyle repeated in October that he will not sack the German even if the club are relegated after two seasons in the top flight.

Wagner worked wonders when he first arrived at the John Smith's Stadium in November 2015, transforming the club from relegation candidates to promotion winners in his first full season.

"I can't ask for more support than I have had from the board, especially from Dean our chairman," Wagner said.

"We are always, even at the minute, in very tight and honest conversations about everything, so I can't ask for more."

Hoyle has also stated that he will not let the club drift towards relegation, but so far in the transfer window the Terriers have signed only defender Jaden Brown, in a permanent deal from Tottenham, and forward Jason Puncheon on loan from Crystal Palace.

Wagner refused to comment on speculation that Town have had a bid turned down by Leicester for striker Shinji Okazaki, although he hinted several options were being pursued.

Puncheon is expected to make his league debut for Hudderfield against Cardiff, while defender Christopher Schindler will return to contention after sitting out last week's FA Cup defeat at Bristol City due to a one-game ban.

Midfielders Aaron Mooy, Danny Williams (both knee) and Abdelhamid Sabiri (collarbone), plus defender Tommy Smith (hamstring) are still out.
