Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.

The 18-year-old, who is now committed to the club until at least 2024 having previously been a target for Bayern Munich, seized his chance last season and made 24 first-team appearances.

Hudson-Odoi told Chelsea's official website: "It's an amazing feeling. It's been a long wait but it's done now and I'm really happy about that."

Hudson-Odoi's emergence also saw him become Chelsea's youngest England international when he was capped for the Euro 2020 win over the Czech Republic.

He added: "I've been a Chelsea player since the age of eight and this is the right club for me to be at.

"I want to lift as many trophies as possible, win as many games as possible and contribute to as many goals I can as well."

"As a team, we just want to work hard to achieve the best results we can. I'm delighted everything has been agreed and now I'm just looking forward to properly getting back."

Hudson-Odoi, currently close to a return from an Achilles injury, has risen through the ranks at Chelsea since he first joined the club on schoolboy terms.

He scored in the finals of two consecutive FA Youth Cup triumphs, and went on to star in the World Cup-winning England Under-17 side.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: "Callum showed last season just what a thrilling talent he is.

"We are delighted he has committed to Chelsea and we are all excited about the prospect of seeing him continue to blossom in the years ahead."

On this special day today, / if you don't know why, check the story 😁/ i decide to share this with you, which i was preparing to post a while ago, but didn't... I don't know why... I know some of you already thought that i retired, and now maybe you are like WTF Berbs we know that you don't play, but i did try to find something last year.. Didn't happened 😂🤦🏻‍♂ So, someone told me i need to say something, and seeing that people where asking me, especially back home, i need to give a farewell message! So, here it is! My last game was more then one year ago, so i think its the right time now to stop and its long overdue! Although when i think about it, its never The End, because i will stay in the game in one way or another, the time has come to say that after almost 20 years playing football i am stoping with my proffesional ACTIVE football career! I will miss it! I will fucking miss it! Everything! The games, trainings, the goals, preparations, the presure, my teammates... the roar of the fans when i scored another banger 😂😎 I was blessed and work hard to have the oportunity to play with one of the best ever and against some of the best ever! And coming from small country this makes it even more special for me! I had my highs and of course some lows in my career, won my fair share of trophies, score some goals along the way as well! I played the way i wanna play, and i scored the goals i wanted to score! Thank you to all the people who helped me develope, and became the player i always wanted to be! Thank you to all my former teams my teammates and my coaches and staff! It was a pleasure! I know at times i was not easy to work with, but i always gave my everything for the teams i played for! I hope you all have enjoyed my game, and everything i gave to entertain you on the pitch! 👊🏻 Damn it, i will miss all of this, peopleee, because i love football so much... But i am sure you will miss me as well 😁 Thank you! 🙏🏻 DB9

Berbatov's most successful spell came at United, who he helped to win two Premier League titles, the FIFA Club World Cup and League Cup. His 48 goals for Bulgaria make him his country's joint all-time leading scorer alongside Hristo Bonev.

As well as his eight-year stay in England, Berbatov also played for Bayer Leverkusen, Monaco and PAOK after starting his career with CSKA Sofia. He has also worked as a pundit.

Hasenhuttl focused on Bournemouth ahead of exciting Portsmouth tie

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will not prioritise beating rivals Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup over continuing Premier League momentum against Bournemouth.

The Austrian has been left in no doubt how much getting a result against Pompey means to supporters in what will be a first meeting since 2012.

However, Hasenhuttl maintains everyone's focus must be on Friday night's visit of Bournemouth when the Saints will look to build on their 1-0 win at Sheffield United.

"It is hard not to think about (the Portsmouth cup tie) because everywhere you come, the fans are telling you how important it is," Hasenhuttl said.

"They can be sure we know it is an interesting game, but first we have to focus on the Premier League game against Bournemouth.

"What I can say is that I don't think about any rotation to save a player for the Tuesday game, we have enough time between, then enough before the game against Tottenham.

"As always, we try to pick the best possible side for us. Every game is important and we try to win every one."

Hasenhuttl confirmed forward Moussa Djenepo will miss Friday night's match after again being troubled by a previous muscle problem.

The Mali international, a summer signing from Standard Liege, scored to give the Saints a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane last weekend.

Hasenhuttl hopes the 21-year-old will soon be back in action.

"He had the problem that he came very late after playing in Africa, but from the first moment he was here he showed some special qualities which can help our game, absolutely," Hasenhuttl said at a press conference.

"He is a fantastic character, always positive and that is the problem at the moment, he is really down because he wants to help the team.

"He has shown in the few games he has played so far that he is a really good signing and a special player with special qualities. I hope I don't have to miss him too long."

Winger Nathan Redmond is training again following an ankle injury and could come into contention.

Hasenhuttl said: "Nathan could train this week with the team. This is a good message. How far he is and if he really can play tomorrow, I haven't decided so far."

Victory for either side would send them up into third place in the table.

"I expect a tough game from two teams who want to win," Hasenhuttl said.

"We have to be very flexible against this opponent, it could be we have to change the shape a few times, but we know we have players on the pitch who can do this."
