The England international sustained the injury during the midweek Champions League clash against Ajax where the Blues registered a 4-4 draw from 4-1 down.

Mount was initially predicted to miss the weekend's London derby against Palace but Lampard has now confirmed that Mount will feature, provided he is able to pass the fitness test.

"With Mason, he's in the squad. We're giving him another 24 hours and we'll make a call on that one in the morning," he was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

Mount has been ever-present for the Blues in the Premier League and Champions League this season and has contributed four goals and an assist in all competitions.

His potential absence against the Eagles could offer Callum Hudson-Odoi with a starting role.
Christian Pulisic
may shift to the number 10 position for Hudson-Odoi to feature on the left wing.

Frank Lampard confirms fresh injury blow for central defender

The Germany international was initially predicted to make a comeback this month but that will no longer be the case with the centre-back requiring an operation to rectify his ongoing injury concern.

Speaking in a press conference, Lampard acknowledged that Rudiger will continue to remain on the sidelines and he is only expected to return to training at the end of the month.

"He had an operation and he is going to be out probably for three weeks, hopefully. Then we will have to see where match fitness comes in because he has been out for a long time now," he told Sky Sports .

Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori have formed a tremendous partnership in the central defence in the absence of Rudiger but Lampard has another senior option available this weekend with Andreas Christensen returning from his hamstring setback.

Ex-Liverpool defender Markus Babbel claims England is ‘paradise’ for single men as he opens up on boozy Anfield stint

MARKUS BABBEL had to leave England because he could not focus on his football, the former Liverpool man has claimed.

German international Babbel, 47, reckons the country is "paradise" for single men and admitted he spent too much time smoking and drinking during his Anfield stint.

He spent four years in the UK, including a season on loan at Blackburn, before returning to his homeland with Stuttgart.

He told The Coaches' Voice: "I was going out a lot. Drinking a lot. Smoking a lot. If you want to come back (from injury) at the highest level, you need discipline. But, for one or two years, I couldn’t show this because I was living.

“It was a problem for Liverpool. They saw me, a top professional who had played 60 games from 63, going out drinking and smoking.

“For me, it was clear – if I want to come back to 100 per cent professional football, then I have to leave the country.

“Because as a single man, England is a paradise city. If you go out it’s very easy to do stupid things.”

Babbel is currently managing Western Sydney Warriors in Australia's A-League.

The defender won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa Cup with Liverpool as well as a number of titles with Bayern Munich.

But the Premier League eluded him and Jurgen Klopp is out to break the Reds' duck this season after two near misses.

Liverpool go into Sunday's top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City six points clear of the defending champions.
