Man Utd make first verbal offer to sign Serie A striker
Manchester United have made an opening verbal offer to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
The Red Devils are keen on bolstering the centre-forward department and they have identified Hojlund as the main target.
The club have made a verbal proposal of £50m plus £10m in add-ons for him, but Atalanta are expected to turn down the offer.
The Serie A outfit want at least £70m as a fixed fee for the striker with a further £10m in the form of performance add-ons.
Despite the stance, United remain optimistic that they can strike an agreement with the Bergamo outfit in the coming days.
Atalanta have already reached an agreement to sign a new striker. Almeria's El Bilal Traore will join them by the end of the month.
The Serie A outfit are aware that Hojlund has agreed personal terms, and they could eventually admit defeat in keeping him.
Hojlund has accepted a five-year contract with United with the option for another 12 months. He could earn £75,000-a-week.
