Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh Chelsea injury blow
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed a fresh injury blow following the 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the FA Cup.
The Blues have suffered several setbacks in the early part of the campaign and they are already missing a number of regular starters. The club look set to be without another key player in
Ben Chilwell
.
The England international started at left-back in the recent outing against the Seagulls. He played almost the entirety of the game, but sadly left the field in the final minutes with an apparent injury.
Speaking after the victory, Pochettino revealed that Chilwell pulled his hamstring and will be assessed, he said: "We need to assess tomorrow but think it was hamstring."
The news is a huge blow for the Blues. In his absence, Marc Cucurella or Ian Maatsen could start from the left-back role when the club face Fulham on the road in the Premier League on Monday.
