Chelsea enter race to sign Joao Neves?
Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves next year, according to Fichajes.
The Blues focused on bolstering their defensive midfield department during the summer with the signings of Moises Caicedo , Lesley Ugochukwu and Romeo Lavia .
They also recruited Enzo Fernandez from Benfica last winter. Hence, the London giants are well covered in the department, but they are still keeping tabs on Neves.
The 18-year-old is one of the most sought-after young midfielders in European football. He has made a huge mark since his breakthrough at Benfica last year.
Aside from the Blues, Manchester United are also interested in his services and there could be a bidding war for his services in either January or at the end of the season.
Neves currently has a release clause worth €120 million in his contract, but Benfica could be open to negotiating a lesser sum to sanction his sale next summer.
Apart from Neves, Antonio Silva has also been touted to leave the Portuguese giants when the season ends. He is also on the radar of Chelsea and United.
