Erik ten Hag confirms key striker is unfit to face Spurs
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Anthony Martial is unfit to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Frenchman has been on the sidelines for the past few weeks through illness and it seems he has not recovered in time for the weekend game.
Speaking in today's press conference, Ten Hag said that the forward has yet to reach match fitness and will take some time to get back into shape.
He did not confirm an exact timescale but it appears he may not return to action for the next few weeks at least, judging by the manager's update.
Martial is facing a race against time to save his United career. His current contract expires at the end of the ongoing campaign and no talks are planned.
The club have opted against triggering a 12-month extension clause in his deal while Martial seems unlikely to accept a huge pay-cut. He could leave on a free.
