Adam Wharton to join Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have sealed a move for Blackburn Rovers' 19-year-old starlet Adam Wharton in a deal worth around £22.5 million. The 19-year-old has agreed a long-term contract at Selhurst Park and it is hoped that Wharton will add the midfield d
Wharton emerged through Blackburn's youth academy and finally made his debut for Rovers in 2022, before becoming a first-team regular at the tail end of last season. This campaign so far, Wharton has scored one goal in 21 games and has arguably been one of the Ewood Park outfit's best players.
Adam, who has his brother Scott Wharton at Blackburn Rovers, is arguably the best player to emerge from the club's academy for more than a decade. Comfortable playing as a defensive, attacking or central midfielder, Wharton's versatility makes him a real threat to opponents. He is tough tackling in defence and an excellent passer of the ball.
Wharton only recently signed a new deal on December 8th 2023, but a little more than a month later and he is off to Palace. Roy Hodgson is said to be delighted to have secured a move for a player expected to one day appear for England's national team.
