Man Utd identify Dutch defender as main target
Manchester United have identified Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong as their main target for the summer.
The Red Devils are likely to part ways with Aaron Wan-Bissaka with his contract expiring at the end of next season.
Wan-Bissaka has spent most of the current campaign on the sidelines and United are willing to offload him on the cheap.
This could pave the way for a new arrival at right-back and SportBild claim that Frimpong is a serious target for the club.
Frimpong has been a revelation from the right wing-back role for Leverkusen this term. He has nine goals and 10 assists so far.
United had second thoughts over signing him last summer due to his height, but they are now convinced due to his performances.
The defender currently has a release clause worth €40 million and United should be able to easily afford the fee this summer.
Frimpong previously grew up in Manchester with Manchester City and should be tempted to return to familiar surroundings.
