Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed a fresh injury blow for Thiago Silva following the Premier League draw against Aston Villa.
The Blues registered an impressive 2-2 comeback draw against the Villans on the road last night. They scored a late winner, but were denied due to a foul by VAR.
Speaking after the game, Pochettino confirmed that Silva sustained a groin injury - similar to the one against Crystal Palace in February this year.
He said: "A pain in his groin. Similar to the injury he got at Crystal Palace ."
Silva has been a key player for the Blues over the past four years, but he is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.
The 39-year-old has already made the decision and it could be made official during the final or penultimate week of the Premier League campaign.
The Blues are likely to pursue a quality replacement in the transfer market this summer. Aside from Silva, Trevoh Chalobah could be offloaded.
