The club are now likely to prioritise other key positions and a marquee wide player could be signed instead of another centre-forward.

The Gunners retain a strong interest in Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams , who currently has a release clause of around 50 million euros.

Williams has the ability to play on either wing, but the big question is whether he would accept a reduced role from the starting XI at Arsenal .
