Tottenham winning race to sign Chelsea midfield target
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in pole position to sign Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray this summer.
The youngster was heavily linked with Chelsea earlier this month and they were deemed to be favourites to land him.
However, the price tag put them off. Brentford recently agreed to pay £34m for the teenager, but terms were not acceptable.
Leeds have now agreed a deal with Spurs for the 18-year-old, who can play in defensive midfield or from the right-back role.
Gray is regarded as one of the best talents in the Championship. He played a key part in Leeds' run to the play-off final.
The Whites failed to cross the final hurdle against Southampton. They have now been forced to sell him for financial reasons.
Despite this, Leeds will remain one of the favourites to secure promotion from the Championship in the upcoming campaign.
Gray, meanwhile, has the chance to establish himself as a Premier League player, having made his mark in the second tier.
