Man Utd enter talks to sign Dutch sensation
Manchester United have opened negotiations with Bayern Munich over the potential transfer of Matthijs de Ligt this summer, according to Mike Verweij.
The Red Devils are keen on bolstering the central defensive department in the current transfer window and De Ligt is now the prime target for them.
It is now reported that they have opened formal talks with Bayern while discussions are also underway with the agent of the Netherlands ace.
De Ligt is expected to give the green light over a five-year contract soon and the onus is on United to finalise a transfer agreement with Bayern.
Bayern are prepared to sanction his sale for £42 million up front and it remains to be seen whether United pay the reported price tag.
With their limited budget, they could look to bargain on the fixed fee and may look to settle for around £35m to sign the ex-Ajax captain.
Erik ten Hag really wants to sign his former Ajax star, as per reports.
