Arsenal accelerating interest in Brazilian striker?
Arsenal are accelerating their interest in signing Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo from Benfica at the end of the campaign.
The 20-year-old was on the radar of the Gunners during the January transfer window but he ended up joining the Portuguese giants.
The ex-Santos striker has yet to make the starting line-up for Benfica, but he has impressed with four goals and one assist in 10 outings.
His form in Europe has apparently impressed the Gunners and Fichajes claim that the club are now accelerating their interest in landing his services.
They have already tabled a proposal worth €30m plus add-ons for the striker, who netted 21 goals for Santos during the last campaign.
Arsenal are expected to land a marquee centre-forward in the summer and we are certainly surprised by the transfer link with Leonardo.
The youngster is still inexperienced at the European stage and would not be an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah in the Arsenal ranks.
