Rekik made the move to Rotterdam on loan from Arsenal in the summer, but he only made six appearances for Maurice Steijn’s side.

Sparta has agreed to let the defender return to London where Arsenal will loan him out again.

Sparta has already welcomed a replacement with Rick Meissen joining from Utrecht. The 20-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal in Rotterdam.
