Ajax confirmed on Monday that Maurice Steijn had departed after a terrible start to the season and Hedwiges Maduro will take over for Thursday’s clash with Brighton.
However, Maduro doesn’t have the required coaching badges to take over on a permanent basis, meaning the club have to look elsewhere.
According to Voetbal International, John van’ t Schip is currently top of the list with Ajax hoping that he would take over on a temporary basis until the end of the season.
Van’ t Schip made over 270 appearances for Ajax as a player and the former Dutch international has acted as an assistant and interim head coach at the club previously. Most recently, he was head coach of the Greek national team but left in 2021.
