Enzo Maresca breaks silence on Conor Gallagher's future
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has said that the club are trying to find a solution for midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer.
The England international is currently in the last year of his contract and he has reportedly turned down a fresh proposal from the club.
The new wage offer is below the midfielder's expectations which has led to claims that he could be offloaded from the Blues' ranks.
When asked about Gallagher, Maresca said: "The only thing I can say is he is in contact with the club to find a solution. The club offered him a new contract. I am focused on here."
Chelsea have already accepted a bid worth £34 million from Atletico Madrid, but Gallagher has yet to negotiate personal terms with them.
The midfielder has not ruled out staying with the Blues, but the hierarchy will need to improve the salary proposal in order to extend his stay.
For the moment, Gallagher has been asked to stay away from first-team training when the squad return to Cobham on Monday morning
