Arsenal defender out for weeks with knee injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu will be out of action for weeks after picking up a knee injury in training last month.
The Japan international has been hampered by several injuries in his Arsenal career and he is now on the sidelines with yet another setback.
It was initially predicted that he could return by the start of the season, but Arteta has today clarified that the concern is much more serious.
He said: "Yeah, I think it will take weeks on that one unfortunately. He's going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it's going to take a few weeks."
The Bologna star has been a valuable addition to the Arsenal squad and he was rewarded with a new long-term contract earlier this year.
The Gunners consider Tomiyasu as a key part of their plans and they will be aiming to ease him back to action after his current injury.
