London club open talks to sign Chelsea defender
Crystal Palace have opened talks with Chelsea to sign Trevoh Chalobah, according to Sky Sports News.
Chalobah is not in the plans of manager Enzo Maresca and he is free to leave the club before the transfer deadline.
The Eagles have now expressed an interest in signing him as they seek a replacement for Joachim Anderson.
Anderson recently left for Fulham for £30m and Palace are prepared to invest around £20m to recruit Chalobah.
The Blues graduate was one of the stand-out performers during the second half of the 2023/24 league season.
Despite this, Maresca has given the green light for his transfer and he is expected to leave by Friday's deadline.
A couple of Italian clubs have also made enquiries, but they are only interested in a loan deal with a buy clause.
However, Chelsea have made it clear that they want to offload Chalobah on a permanent basis before the window closes.
Chalobah is likely to favour a move to Palace as he would have the chance to continue his career in the English capital.
