The Red Devils recently opened talks with the Blues and they discussed the possibility of swapping Jadon Sancho for Sterling.

However, there has been a dramatic twist in the last 24 hours. United have now reached an agreement with Juventus for Sancho.

Sancho will join the Bianconeri on loan until the end of the season. The Turin giants have included an obligation to buy next summer.

Despite this, United are still interested in a possible deal for Sterling and they could approach to sign him on loan for the campaign.

Sterling is currently on a huge salary package of £325,000 per week and he will need to accept a significant pay-cut to join United.

The winger played for United's arch-rivals Manchester City for seven seasons, but he remains interested in the move. Sterling was a boyhood fan of the Red Devils.
