Everton scouts had monitored Mangala while on loan at Lyon in France at the back end of last season and were confident that a permanent transfer could be agreed, but Lyon exercised their option to sign the Belgian permanently and a deal completed on the 2nd of July. However, Sean Dyche thinks that Mangala is the perfect replacement for Andre Onana , who joined Aston Villa this summer, and wants his club to spend cash to complete a deal before the transfer window closes tomorrow evening.

It is understood that Mangala is ready for a return to the Premier League and has instructed his agent to open talks with Lyon to clear the way for a transfer exit. Mangala has three years remaining on his Lyon contract.
