Liverpool identify top target to replace Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool have identified Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer.
Alexander-Arnold has entered the final year of his contract with the Reds, and he has yet to commit to a new long-term deal.
Real Madrid are said to be monitoring his situation closely and they could propose to sign him on a pre-contract in January.
Amidst this, Football Insider say that the Merseyside giants are preparing a contingency plan if the 25-year-old leaves on a free.
They are tracking the performances of Frimpong in the Bundesliga and could trigger his release clause in the region of £34m.
Frimpong has had a fine start to the campaign with Leverkusen and he has already registered one goal and four assists thus far.
He has reportedly opened the door for a Premier League move, having previously spent nine year in the Manchester City youth ranks.
Manchester United are also admirers of the former Celtic man and they could provide strong competition in the transfer race.
