Mikel Arteta provides big update on Jurrien Timber's fitness
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Jurrien Timber was substituted against Paris Saint-Germain due to a minor muscular concern.
The Netherlands international joined the Gunners from Ajax last season, but he made just two appearances after suffering a serious injury.
Timber has returned in tip-top shape in the current campaign, but Arteta has admitted that the club have to manage his workload in future.
After yesterday's injury scare, the manager said: "He was unbelievable in the first half. He felt something muscular and we didn’t want to take any risks. He has been out a year and played a lot of minutes. We have to manage him."
Timber has started at right-back in the last two outings with Ben White on the sidelines with a minor issue. The latter could return this weekend.
We won't be surprised if White gets the nod in the starting XI. Timber could be given a breather ahead of the international break with the Netherlands.
