The 24-year-old left the Red Devils in a Bosman deal for the French outfit four years ago and he has since become a key player for them.

Gomes recently made his debut for England. He was also exceptional against Finland last night with a passing accuracy of 97 percent.

In our opinion, United should aim to land Gomes on a free transfer with his contract with Lille expiring at the end of June next year.

Gomes is free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club in January and he has already opened the door for a reunion with United.

The Red Devils could do with his services. He has the ability to operate in the defensive, central or attacking midfield positions.

Gomes could be seen as a replacement for Christian Eriksen or Casemiro. Both of them are expected to depart by next summer.
