Mikel Arteta could start wonderkid at left-back vs Liverpool
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could start Myles Lewis-Skelly in the left-back position against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Gunners returned to winning ways in midweek with a 1-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk at home.
Riccardo Calafiori suffered an unfortunate knee injury in the game and he could be ruled out for some period of time.
Lewis-Skelly replaced him at left-back for the final 23 minutes and he could keep his place against the Reds this weekend.
Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior were on the bench, but Arteta went with the youngster in the position last night.
This is a huge hint that he trusts the 18-year-old over the duo.
Jurrien Timber could be fit for Sunday, but he could partner Gabriel in central defence with William Saliba suspended.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is the other choice to operate at left-back, but that may not happen amid his lack of playing time so far.
The Japanese could make an appearance off the bench if he is fit. He has played only six minutes since the start of pre-season.
