Arne Slot provides major update on Alisson's fitness
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided a major update on goalkeeper Alisson ahead of the Premier League trip to Southampton.
The Brazil international has not played since the October international break with a hamstring injury, but he has recently returned to training.
However, Slot has insisted that the club need to be careful regarding his fitness and he won't be available to face the Saints on the road.
He said: "Alisson? We're careful with everyone when it comes to muscle injuries.
"He is back in training with goalkeeper coach and not training with the team but that is expected soon.
"Let's wait and see where he is in terms of match fitness, getting better and better but not ready."
Alisson won't be travelling with the team to the South Coast this weekend and he could be sidelined for the midweek game against Real Madrid too.
He is likely to face a late fitness test before the much-awaited Premier League encounter against Manchester City at Anfield in early December.
Caoimhin Kelleher has done a good job as the deputy shot-stopper and he will be aiming to impress in the next two games across all competitions.
