Liverpool set to make £50m bid for La Liga star
Liverpool are set to make a renewed offer of £50 million to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in January, according to Caught Offside.
The Spaniard was a top target for the Merseyside giants last summer and they decided to trigger his £50m release clause. However, the midfielder made it clear that he did not want to leave the club.
Liverpool did not pursue an alternative in the transfer market. It has proved a blessing in disguise for them, considering Ryan Gravenberch has been fantastic in the defensive midfield role so far.
Despite this, manager Arne Slot wants more competition for places and the Reds are prepared to return with a £50m bid for Zubimendi when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
Zubimendi is likely to consider a move this time around, but Sociedad could make things difficult. They are likely to demand £60m as his release clause is not active midway through the season.
