The Gunners recently opened talks with the Dutch outfit for the central defender and they have now secured an agreement.

The club have agreed to pay €42m up front for Timber. A further €6m in add-ons has been finalised with the Eredivisie outfit.

Timber is now expected to travel to the English capital to undergo his medical before signing a long-term deal with Arsenal .

He looks set to become the club's second signing of the summer transfer window after the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea .

The Gunners are also in advanced talks to land Declan Rice from West Ham United. A deal could be sorted in the next 24 hours.

There is currently a roadblock over the payment structure, but Arsenal are confident that they will secure a deal for the midfielder.

Rice is set to become the most expensive signing in the Premier League.
