Mikel Arteta reacts to Jesus and Sterling displays vs Southampton
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the performances of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling following the 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday.
Arteta made three changes for the Saints game with Jesus, Sterling and Jorginho getting the nod in the starting XI.
Sterling had his good moments in the opening half and he could have easily scored his maiden league goal for Arsenal .
However, it was a struggle for Jesus until his substitution. He seemed to be lacking confidence and was evidently poor.
Speaking after the 3-1 win, the manager has only fond words for the pair and added that everybody deserves to play.
He said: "I was really happy. We made the changes, we had to make them and everybody deserves to play. In the first half it could have been very different to the result we had at half-time."
The Gunners remain third in the table despite the win, but they are just one point behind leaders Liverpool heading into the break.
The club face Bournemouth after the interval and Arteta will be hoping his team can continue the momentum later this month.
