Chelsea striker set to join Roma on loan
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is set to join AS Roma on a season-long loan deal, according to Sky Sport Italy.
The Belgian has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues, but they have been unable to offload him.
The club were hoping to receive permanent transfer offers, but they were not presented with any good proposals.
As a result, they have now agreed to send him on loan again. AS Roma have won the race to land his signature.
The Giallorossi will pay a loan fee of around €5m. Lukaku has accepted a huge pay-cut to join the Serie A outfit.
Lukaku has agreed to reunite with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and he will be guaranteed a starting role.
Tammy Abraham has been Roma's leading striker, but he is out for the long-term after suffering a knee injury.
The deal will be a straight loan and the Giallorossi won't have the option to buy him at the end of the campaign.
