Chelsea midfielder ready to sign new contract
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is ready to sign a new long-term contract, provided he has the assurance of playing time.
The England international was the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United this summer, but neither were willing to meet the £50 million asking price.
As a result, Gallagher had no choice but to continue with the Blues. He has been rewarded by manager Mauricio Pochettino with eight straight starts in the Premier League.
It is now reported that the midfielder is prepared to extend his deal expiring in June 2025, provided he is given the guarantee of regular first-team football by the manager.
Gallagher has been a key player for the Blues since the start of the campaign, but there are question marks over his position, suppose Romeo Lavia is fully fit to play.
Lavia picked up a knee injury in training earlier last month. The Belgian has yet to make his debut for the club, but could become a regular once he is deemed to be match fit.
